UPDATE ON PETER ABDOU - 2000 THRU 2001 Here is Pete’s most up to date Gig Schedule:
May/June 2001-
Well the boys from Downchild have come and gone, performing 6 great shows. Thanks to all who attended, it was a blast. Look for a new CD out soon which will include the three songs available now. june will hopefully bring the release of the new Katrin CD as well as a few others Pete has performed on. Meanwhile he will continue shows with Katrin and the band Nauset, formerly known as MILK.
May Performances: March/April 2001 - Continued work on the long anticipated Katrin album, don't worry it's gettin done! Milk is ready to release their CD Produced and engineered by Pete and the band, Thomas has started work again on his shelved release and Pete is now getting ready for the return of Downchild for a studio release as well as live shows in May. He has also done a few songs with a Fall River based band for a CD due out in June.
March/April Performances: January/February 2001 - Well this month was a stand still as far as gigs went. Pete didn't do any shows with Katrin, but did do one fill in show with the band MILK. The studio on the other hand has been super busy. Katrin has recruited a number of area guitar players to hopefully finish the lead tracks on the new CD due out in May. On top of that Pete has been engineering and producing the new releases from, The Second Hand Novas and MILK both records due out this year. As well as doing a number of projects in the studio for Whites music. February saw the start of gigs again, thank god. Still alot of studio activity right through the month as well as going to several area studios and helping tune and sound test drum sets.
January/February Performances: November/December 2000 - The month of November has been fun so far, a lot of studio projects including the Second Hand Novas which Pete is producing as well as performing some percussion and vocals, and Milk, which he is engineering. Other studio projects include, Knights Past, Thomas, Katrin, Bumbles Bounce and BAM, all expected for an early 2001 release. The response for Katrin has been enormous. With the show schedule building and the release of a new website, w3.to/katrin, things are picking up, the band was even chosen as one of the semifinalists in the Guitar Center sponsored “ BAND SLAM” to compete for a $10,000.00 recording package courtesy of Diamond Hill Studios in Rhode Island. Peter also was one of 6 judges for the Guitar Center yearly nationwide “Drumoff” ,where amateur drummers can show there stuff for 5 minutes to win prizes and move on to the regional competition in New York. From there they go to the nationals to compete for , among other things, a brand new Ford Explorer. Pete says of the competition “ I’m not much for supporting competitions but it was a lot of fun to see the younger kids have enough guts to perform in front of so many other drummers.” For the next month or so, Pete will be finishing up some studio projects, teaching a bit and playing steady with Katrin, there is even a rumor of Katrin releasing their first CD in February. Pete just finished recording one song for the group "mkUltra" at NewCastle Sound in Barrington RI. He also performed at the Guitar Center Band Slam semi finals with Katrin where he met mkUltra and was asked to perform on the record.
November/December Performances:
Saturday, December 2nd- The MiddleEast Cafe', Cambridge,MA- Katrin
September/October - After a few shows this month with Katrin, Pete will fly to Phoenix, Arizona on the 27th, along with Tony Dilorenzo, of Downchild,Bumbles Bounce and now Milk fame. He will begin recording the third long awaited Downchild CD with the other two long lost members. He is scheduled to perform a few dates as well during their stay and then will return to Mass. on October 8th to resume shows with Katrin as well as finish up on the new CD due out before x-mas. Other CD's getting ready to be released are "Thomas" who along with Pete will be spending most of October in the studio mixing. Then the long awaited Bumbles Bounce follow up record will hopefully be finished by the end of the year.
September/October Performances:
Saturday, October 7th- O’Kelly’s, Tempe AR- Downchild July/August 2000 - I have arrived safely back home after about 6 flights on a plane within two weeks. Whew! Anyway I had a great time in L.A. and got to do quite a bit. Such as visit Mexico for a couple days, catch a Dodger game (DODGER DOGS!!!) and try many many different foods along the way. I also got to fly to scalding hot Phoenix AR to perform with two of the Downchild Boys at Alice Cooper's bar. Way Cool! 400 people and madness! I also had the pleasure of meeting and watching two legends work. Richy Hayward, drummer for Little Feat and Luis Conte, Percussionist for everybody! It was amazing. Other than that I sat in with a few bands around L.A. and visited with friends. And I made it home alive. Yeah! This August I will be busy, with 3 records to finish and a fourth to start as well as gigs with Katrin and Bumbles Bounce. I will also hopefully be catching my favorite skin basher Mr. Kenny Aronoff at the Tweeter Center on August 19th with John Fogerty. You should too! Oh yeah and Steve, the producer of Ally McBeal loved the Bumbles Bounce t-shirts so I gave him some, ya never know you might see one on the show. See you all real soon.
July/August Performances: June/July 2000 - Most of June has been cool, alot of good shows and a few more to go. Also, Pete has been hard at work learning the ins and outs of drum editing at E. Dagener Productions Also mixing four songs for the soon to be released Katrin CD. Then July 12th Pete leaves for Los Angeles to Scout some recording studios to possibly meet some new people and just have a generally great time. When he returns on July 26th (his 30th birthday, shhhhhh) he will be performing with Katrin and Bumbles Bounce for the rest of the summer and hopefully finish both the newest Bumbles Bounce and Thomas CD's. May/June 2000 - Still hard at work on the latest Bumbles Bounce CD as well as Thomas' new recording. I will be gigging steady with Katrin and playing some fill in shows for The Board of Education.
May/June Performances:
May 13th- The Blackstone, Cumberland RI- Katrin March/April 2000 - The next two months will hopefully put finishing touches to the second Bumbles Bounce CD and a first from Thomas.
March/April Performances: January/February 2000 - Gigging steadily with Bumbles Bounce and Katrin, Pete will keep up his busy teaching schedule while also running a week long drum seminar for Whites Music. He also recently played at a CD release for Attleboro based band Slycee Jenkins for which he played 5 songs. The songs he performed live were cuts he recorded with the band. Pete continues to drive hard and straight ahead being booked right through March of this year.
January/February Performances:
January 6th - Middle East Café ,Cambridge MA- Katrin November/December 1999 - On the 3rd of Nov. Pete and the group, The Peasants embarked on a 3 week tour of the midwest. The tour schedule was as follows: Wed 11/3 Clover Club, Tiffin, OH The shows were very well received and fun was had by all. The tour lasted from the 3rd until the 21st and when they returned Pete was looking at 6 more shows with 3 different bands in 2 weeks, after that he would look forward to 2 weeks off over the holidays.
Other November/December Performances:
November 25th - Lucky Dog, Worcester MA - Downchild September/October 1999 - Peter will hit the studio with Katrin Roush late September to start her full length CD, he will also start preproduction on a couple of songs for Knights Past and has another Rhythm and Groove seminar slated for early October. He will also be performing live with Downchild, Katrin Roush, Bumbles Bounce and The Peasants, a Boston band for which he will tour the United States with in early November. A 6 night a week 3 week tour is scheduled.
